STATESBORO- Balancing academics and finances is a common challenge for many college students, and Georgia Southern University is no exception. Engaging in a side hustle can provide not only additional income but also valuable experience and networking opportunities. Carley Clements, a senior elementary childhood education major,  has taken up babysitting to earn some extra money.

“It really is the best side job because I get to help out a family, as well as have time to do some homework if I need to, and making money is always nice,” said Clements.

Chris Smith, a junior finance major, believes that giving rides from the bar is the best job he has ever had. Smith has been giving rides from the Blue Room and Southern Social for three years and says he isn’t ending anytime soon.

“Giving rides is sort of a hidden gem, and there are always people who need rides home,” said Smith.

The idea that something as simple as giving rides home from the bar is not only profitable but also a way to help others makes it a win-win, says Smith.

Whether it’s babysitting or giving out rides, Georgia Southern students are finding ways to earn money while balancing their academics. With the right hustle, students can end their financial stress and even build skills that will benefit them long after college.
