STATESBORO, G.A., April 4, 2025Â - When needing a break, going out for a drink with friends is one of the best options, especially in a college town like Statesboro. There are several options closer to Georgia Southern's campus, but there are plenty of hidden gems or new spots that are available too.Â
Our mission is to try every one of them so you can try something new and find your new regular spot. We focused on places that may not get as much traffic as others to truly see what is the best bar in downtown Statesboro.Â
Second on our list was the Irish pub Pourhouse.
Quality: Pourhouse's set menu is more straightforward than other places downtown, but they have a rotating draft each week. Our team tested their Dudley Dubliner, an old-fashioned with Irish whiskey. The drink landed on the bitter side due to the lack of a sugar cube; however, if you love neat whiskey with a touch of orange and Angostura bitters, then it is the drink for you. While there, we also had to try a classic pint of Guinness. The Guinness had a quality pour and had the notes of coffee and chocolate that the beer is known for. We scored it a 3/5 shakers.Â
Atmosphere: Like all Irish pubs, Pourhouse has a dark and rustic atmosphere. It is decorated in an old barn style, creating a welcoming feeling from the moment you walk in the door. One thing that may set Pourhouse apart from other places is the live music that showcases local talent. Though it may make conversation a little difficult, it is still a great way to spend time with your friends. We scored it with a 4/5 shakers.
Price: The price of drinks is slightly above the dive bars in the area, with an average beer costing $7 and $12 for cocktails. Like Vino, it is completely worth it if you are okay with spending just a little more. We scored it with a 4/5 shakers.
Location: The restaurant is just across the street from Vino 1910, so parking is still not the best near the restaurant. Plenty of public parking lots are on either end of the street, making the journey just a quick walk. We scored it with a 3/5 shakers.Â
Customer Service: The customer service was outstanding. Working in harmony with the atmosphere makes you feel right at home. Warm welcomes and smiling faces allow for a pleasant experience for all who attend. We scored it with a 5/5 shakers.Â
Overall thoughts: Our team had a great time at Pourhouse and highly recommends it to beer fans due to the rotating bar tap. The cocktails are solid in quality and simple in ingredients. The live music from local artists adds even more to the experience and provides great entertainment. So, if you love a cold beer, live bands, and a great evening out, then Pourhouse is a good place to try. The overall score is a 3.8/5 shakers.Â
Stay tuned as we continue the journey to finding the best bar in Statesboro!
