STATESBORO -

Going out for a drink with friends is one of the best options when needing a break, especially in a college town like Statesboro. There are several options closer to Georgia Southern’s campus, but plenty of hidden gems or new spots are available too.

Our mission is to try every one of them so you can try something new and find your new regular spot. We tried to focus on spots that may not get as much traffic as others to truly see what is the best bar in downtown Statesboro.

First up was the wine bar Vino 1910.

Quality: Vino has a diverse menu with different kinds of drinks. Though they specialize in wine, they also offer cocktails and beer. Our team tried one glass of red wine and two of their signature cocktails. The wine was an Old Soul Petite Sirah, which was very pleasant as there were notes of red berries, cocoa powder and espresso beans. The two cocktails tried were their version of a French 75 and an Old Fashion. Both had wonderful fruit elements but were poured a little heavy-handedly, so drink them slowly and responsibly. We scored it with a 4/5 shakers.

Atmosphere: The bar has a refined feeling when you enter that can be a bit disorienting, but there is also a sense of comfort due to the soft lighting and comfortable seating throughout. There is not much space, so it is not the best place to have a large gathering, but when in small groups, it is perfect. We scored it with a 3/5 shakers.

Price: The average cost of the three drinks we tested was $12. This is no issue for those who are okay with spending a little more money compared to other bars in the area, specifically because of the quality of the ingredients used. We scored it with a 3/5 shakers.

Location: It is just a two-minute walk from City Hall, which has plenty of public parking near it; however, if you want a spot closer to the bar, then you had better be comfortable with parallel parking, as the lot behind the building is often filled by customers going to neighboring places such as Bull and Barrel. We scored it with a 3/5 shakers.

Customer Service: The server who worked with our team was extremely respectful. She checked everyone’s IDs to ensure we were all of age to drink. She also provided us with excellent recommendations that included drinks we generally liked as well as some more specific to our own tastes. We scored it with a 5/5 shakers.

Overall thoughts: Vino is a great spot downtown for those looking to try something new or amateur wine connoisseurs. The cocktails are well-made, and the wine selection is vast. Even if you aren’t the biggest fan of wine, there is still a good chance you can find something you will enjoy at Vino 1910. The price may be more than in other places, but it is well worth it for the experience you can have with your friends. The overall score is 3.6/5 shakers.

Stay tuned as we continue the journey to finding the best bar in Statesboro!
